RPG - Role Playing Game
D&D - Dungeons and Dragons (A role playing setting)
3.5 - Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 edition (A specific ruleset for D&D)
4th - Dungeons and Dragons 4th edition (A specific ruleset for D&D)
5th - Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition (A specific ruleset for D&D)
PF - Pathfinder (A separate role playing setting but kind of D&D 3.75)
WoD - World of Darkness (A role playing setting)
oWoD - Old World of Darkness (A specific ruleset for WoD)
nWoD - New World of Darkness (A specific ruleset for WoD)
Vampire, Werewolf, Changeling - All specific sub rulesets within WoD
Exalted - Yet another Setting
Cyberpunk - even more settings
LARP - Live Action Role Play (Doing any of the above in a live setting, kind of like acting)
Tabletop - Doing any of the above sat around a table with books and such.
DM - Dungeon Master (The person who runs a Dungeons and Dragons game)
GM - Game Master (The person who runs a Pathfinder game)
ST - Story Teller (The person who runs a World of Darkness game. Also, I will generally use this term to cover GM and DM)
PC - Player Character (A character in the game controlled by a single Player)
NPC - Non-Player Character (A character in the game controlled by the story teller)
d4, d6, d8, d10, d12 & d20 - All dice types. In order, a four sided die, six sided die, eight sided die, ten sided die, twelve sided die, and twenty sided die. (D&D/Pathfinder use all of them, WoD & Exalted only use d10's, Cyberpunk only uses d6's)
MTG - Magic the Gathering (A collectible card game)
